Our Activities
The Institute of Mathematics and its Applications undertakes a number of activities which are covered in the sections here. Other key activities such as Conferences and Publications are covered in their own sections. We are always pleased to hear from members and non-members if they have suggestions on any new activities which we might consider.
Branches
Branches are important in helping the Institute meet its charitable objectives, but they also provide networking opportunities for members. Established branches regularly hold talks by respected mathematicians, usually without charge, which are open to members and non-members.
Business
The Institute is committed to working with businesses that depend on Mathematics.
Early Career Mathematicians
The aim of the IMA Early Career Mathematicians' Committee is to provide a focus for the ideas and activities of the ECM Group, and to engage, empower and mobilise its membership in supporting the IMA's charitable aims of promoting Mathematics.
Education
Whether or not you feel that the UK government has delivered on its promises for improving education, be assured that the IMA Education Services Area (ESA) is active in promoting mathematics education at secondary and tertiary levels.
The National HE STEM Maths Strand
The National HE STEM Programme is a 3-year, £21million, initiative funded by the Higher Education Funding Councils for England and Wales (HEFCE and HEFCW) that commenced on the 1 August 2009.
Interest Groups
An IMA Special Interest Group is a set of people with an interest in a particular area of mathematics.
Professional
