Ten Top Tips for Sports Betting, Professor Ray Hill (University of Salford)
Abstract
We identify some betting situations where the odds are in your favour. These relate to horse-racing, soccer, rugby league, cricket and Lotto.
For example:
- In which horse-races can you be certain to win, whatever the outcome?
- Why should you bet on certain soccer matches to be drawn, yet never bet on a 0-0 score-line?
- How can you make a profit on rugby league winning margins?
- A £1 Lotto ticket is worth, on average, around 45p. A judicious selection of numbers can certainly raise the value of your ticket, but can you increase its value to above the £1 you have paid?
