What does EDI mean to the IMA?

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) is a cross-cutting theme spanning all the activities of the IMA, and is a vital ingredient in the IMA’s strategy to advance the mathematics profession and achieve our Mission.

Our EDI strategy, produced by our EDI Champion Howard Haughton, sets out our primary EDI goal to:

Develop and regularly review the IMA’s EDI strategy to create an equitable, diverse and inclusive culture within the IMA and across the communities we represent. This fosters greater engagement and participation, creating an environment where all can thrive and fulfil their potential in mathematical science endeavours.

Science Council Declaration on EDI

The IMA has made a commitment to the Science Council, as a member body, to create a culture of equity, diversity and inclusion within our discipline. This commitment establishes a common approach to embedding EDI principles, and encourages the collective progress of Science Council member bodies through sharing best practice.
