Why many new technologies fail people with disabilities: A mathematical approach, a talk by Professor Simeon Keates (Edinburgh Napier University)
Abstract
It is widely accepted in principle that user-centred design is one of the key elements in the development of products that are both usable and accessible by the widest possible range of users. However, how do you measure and evaluate whether the design of a product is good enough? In this talk, we explore the science of measuring and modelling human performance and the use of such data in estimating the usability and accessibility of a new product. The goal is to ensure that people are not excluded by design and that as many people as possible can benefit from newer, smarter technology.
