Beautiful Music – an amazing mathematical fluke? A performance by Malcolm Savage
Abstract
In this talk, Malcolm will attempt the (almost) impossible – to define beautiful music. The underlying mathematics is fascinating, yet beguilingly simple, and leads to a very surprising new conclusion about the existence of music itself. The talk will be illustrated by examples of recorded music, from the Beatles to Beethoven, and live instruments.
