Online Workshop: Python for Scientific Computing and TensorFlow for Artificial Intelligence

BROCHURE

This workshop has been designed for a wide audience of participants and assumes no knowledge of programming. Delegates will be introduced to Python – using it as a powerful calculator, before moving on to simple programming constructs such as defining functions, loops, and conditional statements. The Turtle module is used to plot simple fractals, and this gives delegates a pictorial representation of programming. Next, Python is used for Scientific Computing in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Engineering and Physics. The focus is on the programs and models and NOT on the mathematical theory. Simple Image Processing and Brain Inspired Computing are precursors to Artificial Intelligence (AI). The Backpropagation Algorithm is explained in simple terms and finally delegates will be shown how to apply Keras (an Application Programming Interface -API) and TensorFlow to problems in AI.

  • Learn…… to program in Python
  • Apply…… Python to Scientific Computing
  • Solve…… real-world problems
  • Understand…… how the brain works
  • Upskill…… to Artificial Intelligence

Requirements

Delegates need to download Python IDLE (Version 3.10.0 or later): https://www.python.org
Delegates also need to download Anaconda on to their own computers: https://www.anaconda.com/products/individual
For Google Colab (cloud computing): https://colab.research.google.com/ delegates will need a Google account.
