What is the Levelling Up scheme?
The scheme was piloted by the LMS thanks to a generous donation from Dr Tony Hill, and initially ran in collaboration with Durham University and the University of Leicester in 2021. In 2022, the IMA and other universities became involved and the scheme is expanding more widely for 2023. The scheme supports the provision of online tutoring and pastoral support for A-level mathematics students from under-represented and disadvantaged backgrounds. Levelling Up brings together undergraduate student tutors with A-level mathematics students who wish to improve their grades to enable them to study for a STEM degree.
