Shazia Ahmed – The Scottish Maths Support Network (SMSN) is organising its 15th Annual Meeting on 6-7 June 2024 at the University of Aberdeen, on the theme ’15 years of Scottish Maths Support Network: What Is the Maths Support Landscape in Scotland and Where Do We Go Next?’.
Robert Allen – Travel to and from the Dynamics Days Europe 2024 Conference
Werner Bauer – This proposal seeks funding for conference attendance, both as a session organizer and presenter. I plan to attend the European Geoscience Union (EGU) General Assembly 2024 in Vienna, Austria, from the 15th to the 18th of April 2024. Both the session and the presentation have been accepted.
David Benfield – Present my research on Bilevel Optimisation for Adversarial Machine learning at the International Symposium on Mathematical Programming (ISMP 2024) in Montreal, Canada (https://ismp2024.gerad.ca/), which is the most prestigious conference in optimisation.
Gabriel Cairns – Attendance at Fluid Dynamics of Sustainability and the Environment (FDSE) Summer School, Ecole Polytechnique
Francesco Coghi – A 3-day workshop titled ‘Fluctuations in Self-Interacting and Learning Processes’ will be held at NORDITA, focusing on interdisciplinary research into non-Markovian systems and reinforcement learning, bringing together leading scientists and young researchers, including many from the UK, to advance knowledge and foster international collaborations.
Chloé Colson = I am seeking funding to support my attendance to this year’s Wellcome Connecting Science course in Computational Molecular Evolution, which aims to provide early-career researchers with theoretical knowledge and practical experience of modern statistical and mathematical methods relevant to phylogenomics and population genetics.
Mozhdeh Erfanian – Presenting at the 26th International Congress of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics (ICTAM 2024) will be held from August 25th to 30th, 2024, in Daegu, Korea
Andrea Freschi – Attendance of the Extremal Graphs and Hypergraphs workshop at the Institut Mittag-Leffler, Sweden.
Jessica Furber – Participating in a conference in Italy on ‘stochastic models and experiments in ecology and biology’, where I want to present my PhD research on badger models.
Katherine Hamilton – This grant would fund my tuition on the Oxford Summer School in Economic Networks: an event which brings together mathematicians with postgraduate students in other disciplines, including economics, social sciences and geography, to study and solve problems in Network Science and related topics.
Curtis Hooper – Give a talk at the 17th Australasian Conference on Mathematics and Computers in Sport
Erik Hörmann – Participation to the NetSci24 conference, to be held in Quebec City, June 2024.
Laura Jones – I request financial support from the IMA to allow me to attend and present at the Western Society of Criminology annual conference which will take place over the span of 3 days in Long Beach, CA, U.S.
Anna Kalogirou – This application is to request funding to support attendance at the workshop “Numerical Methods for PDEs and Their Applications” taking place at Institut Mittag-Leffler, Djursholm, Sweden, between 3-7 June 2024.
Karima Khusnutdinova – Invited talk in a mini symposium at 2024 SIAM Conference Nonlinear Waves and Coherent Structures (USA), collaborative research with Professor Wooyoung Choi (NJIT, USA)
Alexandru Malekshahian – I am requesting money to visit Rob Morris at IMPA in Rio de Janeiro for two months as part of the yearly Summer Visitor Program there.
Benjamin Martin – Attend and deliver a presentation on my PhD research at the SIAM Conference on Nonlinear Waves and Coherent Structures in June 2024.
Casper Oelen – I am invited to give a talk at the “VIII International Workshop on Non-Associative Algebras” in Linköping, Sweden between the 21st to the 25th of October 2024.
Jennifer Pestana – The UK-wide Numerical Analysis Network (NaN) will host two annual workshops, initially organized by Jennifer Pestana (Strathclyde) Marcus Webb (Manchester), John Pearson (Edinburgh), and Jitse Niesen (Leeds). The network will focus on advancing numerical analysis through collaboration and knowledge sharing.
Robert Piel – I want to submit to and attend the conference “IGA 2024” (https://iga2024.usacm.org/home), which will be held in St. Augustine, Florida, USA, on October 27-30, 2024.
Elisa Scanu – I have been invited to give a talk about my research at the GIMC SIMAI YOUNG 2024 meeting, organised by the Italian Group of Computational Mechanics and the Italian Society of Mathematical and Industrial Applications. I am seeking funding for covering my expenses to join this prestigious opportunity.
Sebastian Scott – Attendance of the 4th IMA Conference on Inverse Problems
Chee Sim – Additional funding to attend and present at the triennial international conference on mathematical optimisation, 25th International Symposium on Mathematical Programming (ISMP 2024) (https://ismp2024.gerad.ca/), to be held in Montreal, Canada from 21 July to 26 July 2024.
Bridget Smart – I have been selected to participate in the 11th Heidelberg Laureate Forum.
Jesse Taylor-West – A joint meeting of the Special Interest Groups in Biologically Active and Non-Newtonian Fluids, to support engagement of mathematicians and physicists across the different fields, including an early career networking and training event, hosted at University College London in June 2024.
Sara Varljen – Organising the event Women in Number Theory and Geometry Spring Retreat 2025.
Daniel Vaughan – I am seeking funding to present research for a novel mathematical model to a company in the Netherlands interested in deploying this model to help them model bubble formation. I want to show the research in person to start building a close relationship with the company.
Artemis Vogiatzi – Requesting IMA Fund support for Simon Laufer Mathematical Sciences Institute Connections Workshop in Berkeley, USA (Aug 19-25, 2024). As a main speaker, I advance “New Frontiers in Curvature and Special Geometric Structures,” enhancing my academic growth and gender equity. Secured partial funding; additional support greatly appreciated.
Ahmer Wadee – Presenting a paper at the Engineering Mechanics Institute International Conference (EMI-IC 2024) in Vienna, Austria (11-13 September 2024); I am a co-organiser of the mini-symposium on “Instabilities at various scales: Modelling, Analysis and Design” at the conference and will chair one of the sessions.
Tilly Woods – Attending and presenting at the European Geosciences Union (EGU) General Assembly conference, Vienna, Austria, 14th-19th April 2024
