Academic Representatives Forum 2026

Once a year, members who represent the IMA as Academic Representatives within universities convene to build their community, share knowledge, and to network. This year’s event will take place at the University of Birmingham on Friday 19 June 2026, and we look forward to welcoming attendees in person.

We are pleased to confirm this year’s keynote speakers: Prof Michael Grove FIMA, Dr Joseph Bailey MIMA and Prof Rosemary Dyson FIMA. All talks will be followed by an audience Q&A.

We will also hear from Dr James Van Yperen AMIMA who will be sharing details of the National Best Maths Project Competition 2026, Dr Eduard Campillo-Funollet MIMA who will give an overview of the IMA Special Interest Groups (SIGs) and how to get involved, and Dr Sam Kamperis FIMA will be sharing information on Graduate Modelling Camps.  There will also be an interactive session with our Membership and Marketing Executive Marrion Smythe.

We are able to reimburse travel costs for up to two representatives from each university and would encourage you to attend in person, where possible, as there will be lots of time for networking built into the day. This will be a part-hybrid event, so if you cannot come in person due to other commitments then you will be able to attend the first part of the day online.

In-person attendance

Booking for both in person and online attendance is essential please:

Book to attend in person (full day)

Book to attend online (am only)

Lunch and refreshments will be provided.
