A Date with Mathematics: Student Teacher Lecture, Dr Ron Knott (University of Surrey)
Abstract
Not a talk about how to find love on the internet but more about what 2016 has to offer and some ideas on how to communicate a love of mathematics to our students.
Open to all and especially to mathematics teachers and teachers in training.
The speaker, Ron Knott, has been a lecturer in the Departments of Mathematics and Computing Science at the University of Surrey, Guildford, UK, for 19 years until September 1998 when he left to start working for himself making web pages for maths education sites. He now gives mathematics talks to students at schools and universities as well as to general audiences, teachers’ conferences, and Science Festivals on various topics, especially the Fibonacci Numbers and why they occur so often in plants, Fun with Fractions, As Easy As Pi, … .
