ECMI 2008 reinforced the role of mathematics as an overarching resource for industry and business interpreted in their broadest sense.
It attracted leading figures from business, science and government, promoted the application of innovative mathematics to industry, and emphasised industrial sectors that offer the most exciting opportunities for mathematicians to provide insight and new ideas.
