Particle Methods for Fluid Flows, Dr Steve Lind (MMU)

Abstract

Fluids are commonplace and fundamental to a wide range of mechanical and biological processes. Despite their prevalence (and the fact that the governing the equations have been known for almost 200 years!), predicting the dynamics of fluids is still a great mathematical and computational challenge. This is especially true for very complex flows, such as overturning or breaking waves. In this talk we’ll discuss a (relatively) new numerical method based on moving particles that holds great promise in the modelling of these complex flows.

Venue: John Dalton Building, Oxford Road, Manchester Metropolitan University

No charge is made to attend meetings and non-members are welcome.
