Different Flavours of Mathematics, a presentation by Professor Chris Budd OBE (University of Bath) and colleagues
Celebrating the 2021 United Nation’s Climate Change Talks that are taking place in the UK in November 2021, the IMA South West England and Wales branch invites GCSE and A-level Mathematics students and teachers to Different Flavours of Mathematics event.
Professor Chris Budd and PhD students from the University of Bath will talk about the Mathematics of Climate, followed by a presentation on various mathematics rich degrees; including actuarial maths, operational research, engineering, and mathematics and statistics. Students will be shown some resources to help developing their mathematical talent from the Advanced Mathematics Support Programme (AMSP), Further Maths Support Programme Wales (FMSPW), STEM Ambassadors network, and the IMA.
The event is free for IMA members and non-members but registration is essential; to register please contact Gemma Reeves at branches@ima.org.uk by 1pm on the day of the talk.
In order to comply with child protection policies, anyone under the age of 18 is required to attend the event in presence of their parent / guardian. Only the parent or guardian is required to register.

Wrth ddathlu Sgyrsiau Newid Hinsawdd y Cenhedloedd Unedig 2021 a gynhelir yn y DU ym mis Tachwedd 2021, mae cangen IMA De Orllewin Lloegr a Chymru yn gwahodd myfyrwyr ac athrawon TGAU a Mathemateg Safon Uwch i ddigwyddiad Blas ar Wahanol Fathemateg.
Bydd yr Athro Chris Budd a myfyrwyr PhD o Brifysgol Caerfaddon yn siarad am Fathemateg Hinsawdd ac yna bydd cyflwyniad ar amrywiol raddau sy’n cynnwys llawer o fathemateg gan gynnwys mathemateg actiwaraidd, ymchwil weithredol, peirianneg, mathemateg ac ystadegau. Dangosir adnoddau i fyfyrwyr i helpu i ddatblygu eu talent mathemategol gan AMSP, RhGMBC, rhwydwaith Llysgenhadon STEM, ac IMA.
