Abstract

To understand an archaeological site, archaeologists build a chronology. To do this, they must combine expert opinion and scientific dating evidence. Currently, Bayesian inference is used to do this. However, the modelling of expert opinion is incredibly time consuming. This presentation will discuss how we seek to improve this process using mathematical graphs, bespoke statistical software, and model selection metrics.
