Helen mathematically models heat transfer at Rolls-Royce. Helen graduated from Lancaster University with an MSci in Mathematics in 2012 and enrolled on the nuclear graduates programme, giving her the opportunity to do different jobs at several companies, including placements with Sellafield Ltd, Westinghouse, Rolls-Royce and the National Nuclear Laboratory. She has been a member of the IMA since she was at university and became an Associate Member in 2012. Helen has organised a STEM day event for over 80 pupils, helped to organise the annual Graduate Nuclear Conference, and organised an event for her nuclear graduates cohort in Berlin in 2014 by liaising with the German Atomic Forum.
Last year Helen was on the ECM Committee as Conference Leader Designate, assisting the Conference Leader and preparing for this year’s conferences. As Conference Leader, she is now responsible for organising our 2015 Autumn conference and 2016 Spring conference, bringing together early career mathematicians from all over the country.
