Epilepsy & Seizures: Using Mathematics to study the Brain, a talk by Dr Wes Woldman (Centre for Systems Modelling and Quantitative Biomedicine, University of Birmingham & Neuronostics Ltd.)
Abstract
Lots of people will experience a seizure during their lifetime. When people have several seizures, they may be diagnosed with a condition known as ‘epilepsy’. What is it within the brains of people with epilepsy that makes them more likely to have these seizures? In this talk I will discuss how mathematics can help in finding answers to this question. I will also show how we are trying to test our potential answers by collaborating with people with epilepsy and clinicians.
This talk will be given remotely, via Zoom. If you wish to register for attendance at this West Midlands branch talk, please contact Gemma Reeves who will provide the required details.
No charge is made to attend meetings. Non-IMA members are welcome.
