Careers in Mathematics, a talk by Steve Lind
Abstract
Since 2010 Steven Lind has worked in the mathematics and engineering departments of Manchester Metropolitan University and the University of Manchester, respectively. He obtained his PhD in applied mathematics from Cardiff University, and has retrieved a number of awards and grants to study the mathematics of fluids applied to the real world. The mathematical techniques he uses are applied in diverse areas, from novel medical
treatments to wave energy devices – highlighting the range of career opportunities open to graduate mathematicians.
In his talk he will address:
- General careers’ information
- How to present yourself to employers at CV and interview stage
- How membership of a professional body supports your applications and subsequent career development
