A New Spin on Roulette: Combination Bets and Unbiased Wheels, David F. Percy (University of Salford)
Annual General Meeting and Invited Lecture
Abstract
We propose two new types of combination betting in roulette and consider the probabilities and pay-outs to assess how they might enhance the existing game. This leads us to study the betting table for orthogonality and develop a different colour scheme that improves upon the existing layout. We also investigate sectoral bias arising from the arrangement of numbers around the European and American roulette wheels, which could favour gamblers who try to predict wheel and ball spin. We construct a new arrangement that alleviates this problem and offers substantial improvements for combination betting.
