IMA Bletchley Park Visit
Abstract
Bletchley Park, also known as ‘Station X’, was home to the famous code breakers of the Second World War and the birthplace of modern computing and communications. It is now a heritage site run by a charitable trust, with historic buildings, exhibitions and tours for visitors.
IMA members and friends are invited to join in a visit to Bletchley Park, and to meet up with other IMA members and friends from other branches. We have organized a special lecture and guided tour by Graham Hoare, a distinguished IMA member and expert on Bletchley Park. The special Educational one hour talk will be on Mathematics of Enigma. This will be followed by a one and a half hour walking tour with our guide, Graham Hoare. If you are able to stay on, you can also visit the rest of the park independently after the tour.
If you would like to participate, please register for this event at the IMA conference booking website. There is a booking fee of £8 per person, which covers entry to the park, the lecture and the guided tour, which is payable to the IMA at registration. There is no additional park entry fee, as you will be met at the gate by the Park Education Team who will be expecting you. On arrival, you will be escorted to Block B for The Mathematics of Enigma talk. Please notify the organizers if you would like to arrive earlier, and we can arrange for you to purchase lunch at the Park.
Bletchley Park have a maximum group size allocation of 40. So we will accept the first 40 bookings on a first-come-first-served basis. So book your place early to avoid disappointment!!
