Are you within the first 15 years of graduating from a maths degree or within the first 15 years of your IMA membership? Regardless of if you are a member of the IMA or not, then you are an early career mathematician and this conference could be of interest to you.
The 1st Joint Branch and Early Career Mathematicians Conference is being hosted by the IMA’s North West Branch and will take place at the University of Manchester on Friday 15th September 2023. The conference will interest mathematicians early in their academic career, students of mathematical sciences, as well as those with an interest in the subject. It will feature talks from distinguished speakers representing the IMA’s North West Branch. Speakers will be discussing their experience as an early career mathematician and their journey towards where they are today, a bespoke event to gain some perspective and advice from those who are working in academia.
This is a perfect opportunity to learn about fascinating areas of mathematics (and their applications) from people that work on them in your region, whilst also providing you the chance to become more involved with a professional body of mathematics. There will be plenty of time for attendees to network during the conference, allowing you the opportunity to meet people with similar interests – particularly within your institution or neighbouring institutions.

Title: On the asset pricing and hedging in financial markets with frictions Abstract: We establish the fundamental theorem of asset pricing to a model with both fixed and proportional transaction costs, and trading constraints. The model is a specific case of the von Neumann-Gale model developed for the first time for modelling economic growth.
