Are you an early career mathematician or statistician working at a university who is going to be teaching soon? Are you interested in current best teaching practices? Are you looking to improve your teaching style and want to know where to start looking? If the answer to any of those questions is yes, this event may well be for you.
This idea exchange event will offer the opportunity for early career HE educators to connect with the networks that support the enhancement of mathematical and statistical pedagogies, and offer an opportunity for an exchange of ideas amongst practitioners. By bringing together representatives from the IMA, London Mathematical Society (LMS), Teaching And Learning Mathematics Online (TALMO), Royal Statistical Society (RSS), British Society for Research into Learning Mathematics (BSRLM), the sigma network, and the Centre for Excellence in Teaching and Learning– Mathematics, Statistics and Operational Research in Higher Education (CETL-MSOR), we hope to highlight the incredible work done to continually improve the teaching and learning of mathematics and statistics.
The event will consist of representatives discussing what their organisation does, ranging from different events and workshops, special interest groups, and funding opportunities, with an opportunity for delegates to ask the representatives any questions they may have.
We hope this event will highlight the wealth of support for teaching and learning to those new to HE mathematics and statistics education, as well as offer practical ideas to inform and innovate their own practice. We will collect a bank of resources for participants to refer to if they apply for any advanced HE qualification.
