Joint IMA MathsJam event, Katie Steckles (Organiser of Manchester MathsJam)
Abstract
MathsJam is a monthly opportunity for people to come together and share mathematics puzzles, toys, problems and games – anything they think is cool or interesting. MathsJam meets regularly in Manchester, but we’re organising a special extra MathsJam in collaboration with the IMA, and we’ll have puzzles, problems and proofs to play with. You’re welcome to join us to watch short talks, meet other mathematics fans, play some games and join us in the pub afterwards.
We are also looking for people to give snappy 5-minute presentations as part of the evening – introducing a problem, an idea, or something people can puzzle over. If you’ve seen any interesting mathematics lately and would like to share it with us, please email manchester@mathsjam.com with your title, and prepare a 5-minute presentation (we have a projector if you would like to show any images alongside).
No charge is made to attend meetings and non-members are welcome.
