Cultural challenges facing the Mathematical Sciences, a talk by Chris Linton (President of the IMA and Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Loughborough University)

Abstract

The mathematical sciences ecosystem is a land full of excitement and opportunity.  But there is a danger that much of this will be missed if we cling to 20th century priorities and value judgements.  As the environment around us evolves, so must we.  In this talk I will describe some of those areas where I believe change is most needed and what the consequent benefits might be.
