2021 IMA Small Grant Awards


During 2021 a total of eight awards were made through the IMA Small Grant Scheme. Funded applicants and activities included the following:

Funding for a networking activity within the TopFlavours2021 conference.

Mathematical Modelling of Blood Transfusion Stocks in a Local Hospital

Cesare Tronci  

To organise and present at the mini-session ‘Geometric & Symplectic Methods for Hydrodynamic Models’ at the 5th Geometric Science of Information conference in Paris (21-23 July 2021).

Paresh Date

 

 

The application is to fund 4 day visit by Dr Date to Prof. Constantinescu at the University of Liverpool, to advance recent collaborative research on risk quantification and mitigation for microfinance institutions.

Curtis Hooper  

To investigate and compare, theoretically and experimentally, the propagation of longitudinal undular bores generated by tensile fracture in Polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) bars and rods.

Lukas Eigentler  

Developing an undergraduate research project for publication.

Manuel Santos Gutiérrez  

Implementation of new cold-cloud parametrisations in the MetOffice Unified Model.

Christopher Hollings  

To organise a memorial conference in honour of the late Peter M. Neumann OBE, winner of the 2012 LMS-IMA David Crighton Medal, reflecting and building upon his works in mathematics and the history of mathematics.
