On behalf of the IMA Council, members and staff, we are saddened by the news that Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II has passed away.
Her Majesty has served the country and the Commonwealth for an unprecedented period of time, and her reign has seen many incredible changes across the world, including for mathematics and its applications.
Her loss will be felt deeply.
The Institute has operated under a Royal Charter since 1990 and has a history of connections to the Royal Family. This includes holding Council meetings at Buckingham Palace during the presidency of HRH Duke of Edinburgh in 1976, and Her Royal Highness, the Princess Royal’s patronage during our 50th Anniversary year in 2014.
We send our sincere condolences to the Royal Family at this time.
