A talk given by Ranjodh Rai, NeuWave Technologies, for the IMA North West Branch.
This talk is now available on the IMA YouTube Channel.
Abstract
Electric power generation is undoubtedly the bedrock of modern industrial society, but the traditional method of burning of fossil fuels to meet ever-increasing demand has done irreparable damage to our planet. If we are to mitigate future damage, harnessing cleaner—and particularly renewable—forms of energy is crucial, of which one proven source is the offshore marine environment. In general, environmental solutions will arguably only come through research, innovation, and technological advancement, and offshore renewable energy is no different. In this talk, we discuss the vital role that mathematics plays, and will continue to play, in various fields that contribute to the technological advancement of offshore renewable energy.
