Cultural challenges facing the mathematical sciences
Cultural challenges facing the mathematical sciences, a talk by IMA President, Professor Chris Linton CMath FIMA (Loughborough University)
Abstract
The mathematical sciences ecosystem is a land full of excitement and opportunity. Nevertheless, there is a danger that much of this will be missed if we cling to 20th century priorities and value judgements. As the environment around us evolves, so must we. In this talk I will describe some of those areas where I believe change is most needed and what the consequent benefits might be.
No charge is made to attend meetings; non-IMA members are welcome.
