Collaborative, interdisciplinary research mini-symposium on mathematical and computational modelling in marine biogeochemistry and the ocean’s carbon cycle at the SIAM Conference on the Mathematics of Planet Earth 2022.

Presenting my research on the robustness of biological pattern formation in spatio-temporal morphogen variations at a mini-symposium at the European Conference on Mathematical and Theoretical Biology (ECMTB) in Heidelberg, Germany in September 2022.

 

Hayley Wragg  

Promote collaborations in mathematical modelling for tumour growth through attendance and presentation at the European conference on theoretical and mathematical biology.

Jessica Furber  

Participating in a workshop and summer school in person in Berlin for 10 continuous days, with the workshop on stochastic modelling of complex social systems (where I will be giving a talk) and during the summer school the aim is to learn about different modelling approaches for complex social systems.

 

Iain Duff  

To support the ICIAM 2022 Workshop and Board meeting to be held at Strathclyde University from 1 to 3 September that was originally scheduled for 2022 but cancelled then because of COVID.

Dr Steyn will visit Northumbria University to explore common research interests between us and the North-West University in South Africa, with the aim to identify collaborative projects suitable for undergraduate and postgraduate students, and to start new projects that will strengthen research links between our institutions and countries.

To attend and present at an international workshop ’19th EUROPT Workshop on Advances in Continuous Optimization’, which is a yearly workshop on recent advances in mathematical optimisation.

A spring school for new researchers in the field of lattice Boltzmann methods that features 2 days of lectures and 3 days of computer-based tutorials using state of the art open source simulation software.

 

Laura Jones  

To attend and present at the SIAM Conference on Applications of Dynamical Systems (DS23) which will take place over the span of 5 days in Portland, Oregon, U.S.

 

Adam Sheppard  

To model local weather conditions for the improvement of accuracy at a low cost. To create an accurate weather forecast by combining local, national and satellite data and publishing the results with local meteorologists using state-of-the-art models and techniques.
