Committees

Business, Industry and Government Committee

The Business, Industry and Government Committee represent the needs of members in industry and commerce.

Communications Committee

The Communications Committee oversees the development of the Institute's websites.

Conferences Committee

The purpose of the committee is to supervise the Institute's programme of international conferences.

Council

Council meets three times a year and takes a strategic overview of the policies and development of the Institute.

Early Career Mathematicians Committee

The aim of the IMA Early Career Mathematicians Committee is to provide a focus for the ideas and activities of the ECM Group, and to engage, empower and mobilise its membership in supporting the IMA’s charitable aims of promoting Mathematics.

Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Committee

Executive Board

The operational control of the Institute is managed through the Executive Board. The membership includes the President, Honorary Officers and Executive Director. Each member has a specific area of responsibility.

Finance Audit and Risk Committee

The Finance Audit and Risk Committee is responsible for managing the financial affairs of the Institute.

Higher Education Committee

The IMA Higher Education Committee is active in promoting mathematics education at tertiary level.

IMA Staff

The Institute has a secretariat based in Southend-on-Sea. The Executive Director is the head of paid staff and responsible for the secretariat. Her role is to advise Council, its officers and committees, and to make sure their decisions are implemented.

The purpose of the Journals Board of Management is to guide the production of the Institute's journals.

Mathematics Today Editorial Board

The Editorial Board guide the production of Mathematics Today – the membership publication of the Institute.

MathsCareers Committee

The MathsCareers Committee oversees the development of the MathsCareers Project.

Membership Committee

The Membership Committee is delegated by the Council to manage the granting of membership grades and the Chartered Mathematician and Chartered Scientist designations.

Nominating Committee

The Nominating Committee is responsible for creating and managing inclusive, transparent processes for nominating qualified individuals to the IMA Council and its committees. Additionally, it oversees and proposes nominations for internal and external awards and roles, in line with its delegated authority.
