The IMA David Youdan Medal was introduced to the community in 2021. The prize is run every two years and awarded to a member of the IMA or its professional staff, for sustained outstanding contribution to the aims and objectives of the IMA. The IMA David Youdan Medal has been established in honour of David Youdan who served with distinction as IMA Executive Director from 2002 to 2021.
General Information
- An open call for nominations will be made for each award round, with nominations to be received by 30 December in odd-numbered years, starting in 2021.
- Nominations should be accompanied by a supporting statement (maximum 1000 words) signed by two Fellows of the IMA.
- Contributions to the IMA may take many different forms and thus there are no set criteria for nominations.
- The award panel will consist of at least five members including the President, an Immediate Past President, and the Honorary Treasurer. The Honorary Treasurer will be responsible for convening a suitable panel ensuring there is appropriate representation from across the IMA’s activities, and recognising expectations regarding equality, diversity and inclusion.
- In order to be able to better assess long-term contributions the panel may seek input from other Past Presidents.
- Panel members may make nominations but are ineligible as nominees.
- The panel should determine the proposed recipient of the medal (if any) in the January following the close of nominations and submit its proposal to the February meeting of Executive Board and thereafter to the March meeting of Council for its approval.
The Award
The recipient will receive a sterling silver medal, a certificate and a financial award of £1000. The expectation is that the award would be presented at a high-profile IMA event.
