Professor of Asset Management, University of Cambridge
Ajith Kumar Parlikad is Professor of Asset Management in the Engineering Department at the University of Cambridge, where he leads the Asset Management Research Group at the Institute for Manufacturing. His research sits at the intersection of asset management, reliability engineering, and digital technologies. His work spans degradation modelling, predictive maintenance, condition-based maintenance optimisation, digital twins for industrial and built environments, and the application of AI and machine learning to engineering decision-making. He has published over 120 journal papers in leading venues including Reliability Engineering & System Safety, IEEE Transactions on Reliability, and Automation in Construction, and is the author of four books on asset management and maintenance. His research has been supported by funding from industry and government, and he collaborates with partners across aerospace, transport infrastructure, telecommunications, and healthcare. He is the scientific secretary of the IFAC TC 5.1 Working Group on Advanced Maintenance Engineering, Services and Technology.

Principal Mathematical Modeller, Network Rail
Gareth Calvert is a Principal Mathematical Modeller at Network Rail specialising in asset investment planning models and whole life cycle analysis, with his work used to drive evidence-based investment across the railway and develop asset policy. Prior to Network Rail Gareth completed PhD research at the University of Nottingham focusing on the life cycle modelling of bridges.
