With the labour government's curriculum review taking place, the Mathematical Futures programme of the Royal Society and other organisations weighing in on Mathematics Education in general it seems timely to consider whether the A-Level Mathematics and Further Mathematics qualifications are fit for purpose? There are competing pressures on the design of a 16-18 qualification in mathematics but how successful are the current qualifications in meeting any of these?
