Cultural challenges facing the Mathematical Sciences – Presidential Address
Cultural challenges facing the Mathematical Sciences, a talk by Chris Linton (President of the IMA and Provost and Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Loughborough University)
Abstract
The mathematical sciences ecosystem is a land full of excitement and opportunity. But there is a danger that much of this will be missed if we cling to 20th century priorities and value judgements. As the environment around us evolves, so must we. In this talk I will describe some of those areas where I believe change is most needed and what the consequent benefits might be.
