2019 QJMAM Fund Awards

Andrea Cangiani     Towards the cost of presenting at the ICIAM Conference within the minisimposium "Polygonal and Polyhedral Methods in Applied Mathematics"  
Stephen Coombes     To enhance the 4-day applied mathematics conference on 'Threshold Networks' from July 21-24 2019 in Nottingham, with financial aid to support the attendance of early career researchers and PhD students from the UK.  
Darren Crowdy     Towards the cost of a one week visit to Stevens University, New Jersey USA June 10-14 for discussions with mechanical engineer Prof. Chang-Hwan Choi and attend 3-day conference NISE 2019 July 12-14 (ameriscience.org/nise-2019).  
Debasish Das     Towards attending the Annual Meeting of the (a) American Physical Society's Division of Fluid Dynamics (APS DFD) and (b) American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChe).  
Marco Discacciati     Towards the cost of organising the 2020 conference of the UK Association for Computational Mechanics    
Jonathan Evans   To attend and speak at the Annual European Rheology Conference 2019.  
Joao Fontana   To present a talk at the Fluids and Elasticity conference (24-26 June 2019, Malaga, Spain).  
Nicholas Hill     Towards the cost of hosting the Joint British Mathematical Colloquium/British Applied Mathematics colloquium during 6?9 April 2020.  
Dante Kalise   To attend ICCOPT2019, the Sixth International Conference on Continuous Optimization at TU Berlin, August 3-8, 2019.  
Robert Kerr     Tiwards the cost of attending the IUTAM Symposium on Vortex dynamics in science, nature and technology 24−28 June 2019 as a speaker.  
Antigoni Kleanthous     To attend and present their work at the 14th International Conference on Mathematical and Numerical Aspects of Wave Propagation taking place in August 2019, in Vienna, Austria.  
Yi Li     To present on the 11th International Symposium on Turbulence and Shear Flow Phenomena (TSFP11), to be held at Southampton, UK, from July 30 to August 2, 2019.  
Stefania Lisai       To fund the participation of non-Edinburgh-based UK and EU PhD students and early career researchers in the School "Analysis of PDEs and Fluid Dynamics", which will be held at the ICMS on 23-26 July 2019  
Tommaso Lorenzi       Towards the cost of attending as a pleaney speaker at the international workshop "Mathematical Biology: Modeling, Analysis and Simulation'', to be held at the Institute for Mathematical Sciences (IMS), National University of Singapore.  
Cicely Macnamara       Towards the cost of  organising a forum for Scottish mathematical biologists at the ICMS in Edinburgh to be held in December 2019. This will be a one-day event with invited speakers from a wide cross-section of the research community.  
Apala Majumdar     Towards the cost of attendance and Invited Oral Presentation at the XXVIII International Materials Research Congress, August 18-23, 2019, Cancun in Mexico.  
Giorgos Minas       Towards the cost of attending the Annual Meeting and Conference of the Society for Mathematical Biology held in Montreal, where I was invited to participate with a talk at the mini-symposium "Modelling Gene Transcription" held as part of the meeting.  
Anatoly Neishtadt       To run the mini-symposium "Slow-Fast Systems and Phenomena" (MS-05) at the Tenth European Nonlinear Dynamics Conference (ENOC2020), July 5-10, 2020, Lyon, and to present 2 talks at this conference.  
Emilian Parau     To travel to present their research talk with the title 'Axisymmetric nonlinear waves in cylindrical ferrofluids' at the 15th International Conference on Magnetic Fluids, Paris, 8-12 July 2019  
Sergio Perez       To attend the 72nd Annual Meeting of the American Physical Society Division of Fluid Dynamics, the major conference in fluid dynamics. I will present the talk "A finite volume scheme for stochastic PDEs applied in fluctuating hydrodynamics",  
Omar Richardson       Towards the cost of a 5-week collaborative research visit to the University of Sussex to work on the analysis of multiscale partial differential equations, and the development and implementation of smart grid refinement strategies.  
Nikos Savva     Conference travel to present at the 8th International Symposium on Bifurcations and Instabilities in Fluid Dynamics (BIFD) which will take place Limerick, Ireland in 16-19 July 2019.  
Xiaocheng Shang       Application for Conference Travel, as both a speaker and a minisymposium organiser, to the SIAM Conference on Mathematical Aspects of Materials Science that will take place in Bilbao, Spain, 18-22 May 2020.  
Matthew Tranter     To attend the International Conference on Nonlinear Solid Mechanics in Rome in July 2019, to contribute to the minisymposium “Asymptotic approaches in Nonlinear Problems of Mechanics of Solids"  
Philippe Trinh       To fund a visit by Dr. Trinh to the Queensland University of Technology in order to initiate a new collaboration with Drs. Scott McCue and Christopher Lustri. The focus would be on the development of specialised asymptotic methodologies for problems in water-wave dynamics.  
Alexander Wray     To attend the American Physical Society’s 72nd Annual Division of Fluid Dynamics Conference, to be held in Seattle, WA in November 2019.  
 Pavlos Xenitidis     To participate the ICIAM2019 and present my work at the mini-symposium "Recent Advances in Applied Integrable Systems: Theory and Computations"  
Ewelina Zatorska     Participation in the International Congress on Industrial and Applied Mathematics ICIAM 2019, held on 15th -19th July 2019 in Valencia, Spain.
